Four Canadians record touchdowns on winning teams in week 18 of 2024 CFL season

Four Canadians recorded a touchdown for a winning team in the 18th week of the 2024 Canadian Football League season. They were Winnipeg Blue Bombers wide receiver Kevens Clercius of Montreal, Quebec, Blue Bombers running back Brady Oliveira of Winnipeg, Manitoba, British Columbia Lions defensive lineman Mathieu Betts of Montreal, and Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Samuel Emilus of Montreal.

Clercius caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Zach Collaros to open the scoring on Friday in a 31-10 Winnipeg Blue Bombers win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. It was his first career CFL touchdown catch. Clercius finished the game with three catches for 36 receiving yards. For the season, he has 28 catches for 314 receiving yards.

Oliveira’s converted rushing touchdown was for four yards with one minute and three seconds left in the third quarter and put the Blue Bombers up 24-10. For the game, Oliveira had 24 rushes for 147 rushing yards and one catch for 15 receiving yards. On the season, Oliveira has 216 rushes for 1254 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, along with 48 catches for 424 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Betts had a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown on Friday in the Lions’s 32-15 win over the Calgary Stampeders. The converted pick six put the Lions up 19-8 with 10 minutes and three seconds left in the fourth quarter. In five games this season, Betts has 11 defensive tackles, one interception, and one sack.

Emilus had an 88-yard touchdown catch on Saturday in the Roughriders’s 28-24 win over the Edmonton Elks. The touchdown came five minutes and six seconds into the second quarter. Emilus has 81 catches for 970 receiving yards and five touchdowns this season. With the win, the Roughriders clinched a playoff spot and also put the Lions in the playoffs as well. This is the first year ever that the Elks and Stampeders have missed the playoffs in the same season.
