Ducks trade left winger Nicolas Deslauriers to the Wild

The Anaheim Ducks traded left winger Nicolas Deslauriers of La Salle, Quebec to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN. In return, the Ducks receive a third round draft pick in the 2022 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The Wild become the fourth NHL team that Deslauriers has played for. He has previously played for the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens, in addition to the Ducks.

This season in Anaheim, Deslauriers has five goals and five assists for 10 points in 61 games. He was a -9 with 90 penalty minutes, one shorthanded point, 72 shots on goal, one faceoff win, 34 blocked shots, 210 hits, four takeaways, and 11 giveaways. Deslauriers’s shorthanded point was a shorthanded goal scored on January 21, in a surprising 5-1 Ducks win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was an unassisted marker into an empty net with two minutes and 37 seconds left in the game to close out the scoring.

From an offensive perspective, Deslauriers’s best game this season came on February 19, in a 7-4 Ducks win over the Vancouver Canucks. In this game, Deslauriers had his only multi-point game of the season as he scored twice. His goals put the Ducks up 2-0 and 7-2.

Deslauriers also has one hat trick in his NHL career. It came in a 5-2 Ducks win over the Ottawa Senators on March 10, 2020. In 486 games in his career, Deslauriers has 41 goals and 41 assists for 82 points.
