Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps of Vaudreuil, Quebec won the bronze medal in the pairs competition on Friday in the 2024 International Skating Union Grand Prix Final in Beijing, China. This was their first ever Grand Prix Final medal. They finished fourth last year in Turin, Italy.
Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps had 204.3 points. Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin of Germany won the gold medal with a score of 206.43 points, and Sara Conti and Niccolo Macii of Italy won the silver medal with 205.88 points. Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps reached the podium by 12.28 points. Maria Pavlova and Alexei Sviatchenko of Hungary finished in fourth place with a score of 192.02 points.
The free skate was not the best of performances for Stellato-Dudek, who had two touch downs. So far this season Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps won the International Skating Union Challenger Series Autumn Classic International in Pierrefonds, Quebec, the Skate Canada Grand Prix in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the Cup of China from Chongqing.
The next two big competitions for Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps will be in Canada. Calgary, Alberta will host the 2024 Canadian Figure Skating Championships from January 8 to 14, and Montreal, Quebec will host the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships from March 18 to 24. Montreal was to host the 2020 World Figure Skating Championships, but was cancelled due to coronavirus.
