Darcy Kuemper records 38th NHL shutout

Darcy Kuemper of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded his 38th National Hockey League career shutout on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 6-0 Los Angeles Kings win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Kuemper made 23 saves. He made 11 saves in the first period, five saves in the second period, and seven saves in the third period. Defenseman Louis Crevier of Quebec City, Quebec led the Blackhawks with four shots on goal.

Two Canadians had a multi-point game for the Kings. Defenseman Brandt Clarke of Nepean, Ontario scored twice and defenseman and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Drew Doughty of London, Ontario had two assists. Doughty won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Meanwhile, Warren Foegele of Markham, Ontario scored the game winning goal at 1:55 of the second period.

Of Kuemper’s 38 NHL shutouts, 10 each have come with the Arizona Coyotes and Kings. Meanwhile, seven shutouts have been with the Minnesota Wild, six have come with the Washington Capitals, and five have come with the Colorado Avalanche. This was Kuemper’s second shutout this season. The first came on November 4 in a 3-0 Kings win over the Winnipeg Jets.

In 2025-26, Kuemper has a record of nine wins, six regulation losses, and five losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 2.24, and a save percentage of .914. With the win, the Kings improved to a record of 13 wins, eight regulation losses and seven losses in extra time for 33 points. They are in third place in the Pacific Division.
