
Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario is in contention at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational at the Bay Hill Golf Course in Orlando, Florida. On Friday, Conners moved to six-under-par and finds himself three strokes back of the leader, Kurt Kitayama of Chico, California, after the second round.
Conners had seven birdies and one bogey on Friday in round two. He birdied the second, third, fourth, sixth, eighth, 12th and 16th holes. Conners’s only bogey came on the par-five 13th hole.
In round one, Conners had a score of even par. He had five birdies and five bogeys. Conners had birdies on the first, fourth, fifth, seventh, and 16th holes. Conners’s bogeys came on the eighth, ninth, 14th, 15th, and 17th holes.
Two high profile American golfers are also in contention. They are three-time major champion Jordan Spieth of Dallas, Texas and American Olympic gold medalist Xander Schauffele of San Diego, California. Spieth, who won the 2015 Masters, 2015 United States Open, and 2017 British Open is alone in second place at seven-under-par. Schauffele, who won the gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, is tied with Conners at -6, and in third place.
In other Canadian golf news this week, Calgary will be the host city of the 2024 Canadian Women’s Open. The event will take place at the Earl Grey Club.
