Connor McDavid named NHL first star of the week for November 20-26

Edmonton Oilers center and captain Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario has been named the National Hockey League first star of the week for the week from November 20-26, 2023. In four games, McDavid had three goals and nine assists for 12 points.

McDavid had two goals in a 5-3 Oilers loss to the Florida Panthers on November 20, one assist in a 6-3 Oilers loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday, four assists in a 5-0 Oilers win over the Washington Capitals on Friday, and one goal and four assists for five points in an 8-2 Oilers win over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. In the four games, McDavid had two penalty minutes, had zero plus/minus rating, four power-play points, 10 shots on goal, one hit, six blocked shots, and 15 faceoff wins. The hit came in the Oilers win over the Ducks.

In 2023-24, McDavid has seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points in 18 games. He is a -4 with 10 penalty minutes, 12 power-play points, 54 shots on goal, 91 faceoff wins, 13 blocked shots, 24 hits, 18 takeaways and 21 giveaways.

The Oilers have two games this week before they are off for a full week in a quirky part of their schedule. They play host to the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday and then are in Winnipeg on Thursday.
