Carey Price records 47th career shutout

Carey Price of Anahim Lake, British Columbia recorded his 47th career National Hockey League shutout on Saturday. Price made 29 saves as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Florida Panthers 4-0 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

Price made eight saves in the first period, four saves in the second period and 17 saves in the third period. Mike Hoffman of Kitchener, Ontario and Keith Yandle each had five shots on goal to lead Florida.

The Canadiens win over the Panthers was memorable for Canadiens defenseman Jeff Petry, as he had a career high four assists and four points. Nick Suzuki of London, Ontario also had a multi-point game as he had one goal and one assist for two points. Other goal scorers for the Canadiens were Brendan Gallagher of Edmonton, Alberta, Tomas Tatar and Artturi Lehkonen.

On the season, Price has a record of 22 wins, 18 regulation losses and four losses in extra time. He has three shutouts, a goals against average of 2.75 and a save percentage of .911. Price’s first two shutouts in 2019-20 were in a 4-0 win over the Minnesota Wild on October 17 and in a 2-0 win over the Calgary Flames on January 13.

The Canadiens were unable to carry over their momentum into Sunday as they lost 4-3 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. On the season, Montreal has a record of 24 wins, 23 regulation losses and seven losses in extra time.
