Team Canada has moved to a record of three wins and zero losses at the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships in Geneva, Switzerland. After a 9-3 win over Germany on Saturday, the Canadian team comprised of Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta, defeated Spain 8-2 and then Turkey 10-5.
In the Canadian win over Spain, Canada scored six consecutive points from the second to the fifth ends, after Spain began with a stolen point in the first end. The Canadians scored a deuce in the second, fourth and seventh ends. The deuce in the second came without the hammer.
In the Canadian win over Turkey, it was a very tight game over the first six ends. In fact, the game was tied at five points apiece. Then Canada made the most of their seventh end power play, as they scored five points when the rocks to begin the end were placed on the side, rather than the center. Gallant meanwhile curled an exceptional 84%.
With the win, there are now three teams tied for first place in Group B. Canada is tied with Scotland and the United States. Italy is the only team in Group A with a record of three wins and zero losses.
