
Team Canada improved to a record of two wins and one loss on Thursday at the 2023 World Junior Men’s Hockey Championship in Halifax. Nova Scotia. It was a dominant game for Canada, as they clobbered Austria 11-0.
For the second straight game Regina Pats center Connor Bedard of North Vancouver, British Columbia was a dynamic force. A night after having seven points in an 11-2 win over Germany, the Regina Pats center had six points (two goals and four assists) against an Austrian squad that has been outscored 31-0 after three games.
Bedard was one of 10 Canadians to score for Team Canada. The others were Dylan Guenther of Edmonton, Alberta, Shane Wright of Burlington, Ontario, Tyson Hinds of Gatineau, Quebec, Joshua Roy of Saint-Georges, Quebec, Logan Stankoven of Kamloops, British Columbia, Nolan Allan of Davidson, Saskatchewan, Zach Dean of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, Adam Fantilli of Nobleton, Ontario, and Nathan Gaucher of Richelieu, Quebec.
Bedard was also one of five Canadians with a multi-point game. Stankoven had one goal and three assists for four points. Roy and Gaucher had one goal and two assists for three points each. Fantilli had one goal and one assist for two points.
Canada next plays Sweden on New Year’s Eve. Canada can win the group if they beat Sweden and if Germany beats Czechia.
