Canada has improved to a record of four wins and zero losses at the 2022 World Men’s Curling Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Canadian team which is skipped by 2006 Canadian Olympic gold medalist Brad Gushue of St. John’s, Newfoundland, defeated the Netherlands 9-6, and Switzerland 10-6 on Sunday.

In both games, Team Canada fell behind and found a way to come back and get the victory. In the three-point win over the Netherlands, Canada was actually trailing 5-2 after five ends. The Netherlands team, skipped by Wouter Gosgens, were getting a lot of rocks in play in the early going, and were confusing matters for Gushue. In the fifth end, the Netherlands actually stole two points, when Gushue came up light with his last stone. However in the second half, the Netherlands struggled mightily, and were outscored 7-1.

In the Canadian win over Switzerland, the Swiss got off to a great start too as they had a 4-0 lead after two ends. However the momentum shifted in the fourth ends when Swiss skip Yannick Schwaller completely missed with his final stone, allowing Canada to tie the game.

The biggest surprise on Sunday was the fact that reigning Olympic gold medalist Niklas Edin of Sweden lost both of his games. First, he was beaten 8-7 to Switzerland, and then 10-8 to Italy.
