
Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario has the lead after 36 holes at the 2022 Evian Championship in Evian-Les-Bains, France. On Friday, Henderson shot a score of seven-under-par 64 for the second straight day and is at -14.
It was the second straight day that Henderson posted a score of seven-under-par. She previously had a score of seven-under-par on Thursday.
Henderson had eight birdies and one bogey on Friday. She birdied the first, second, ninth, 11th, 12th, 16th, 17th, and 18th holes. Henderson’s lone bogey was on the par four third hole.
There is one other golfer in contention at the moment. That is Nelly Korda of the United States, the Olympic gold medalist and 2021 Women’s PGA Championship winner, who is three strokes back at -11. Nelly Korda is part of a huge sports family. Her father Petr Korda was a Czechoslovakian tennis star that won the 1998 Australian Open. Petr Korda beat Marcelo Rios of Chile in the final, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2. Nelly’s sister Jessica is also part of the LPGA Tour and her brother Sebastian is a rising tennis star that has been ranked as high as 27th in the world.
Henderson is a major champion herself. She won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship in Seattle, and is looking to become the first Canadian golfer ever to win two majors in a career. Henderson and Korda tee off at 3:55 AM MT for round three on Saturday.
