Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario is in contention after the third round of the 2022 Honda LPGA Thailand on Friday from the Slam Country Club in Chonburi, Thailand. After 36 holes, Henderson is tied for fourth place at -18, and three strokes back of the leader, Nanna Koerstz Madsen of the Netherlands is the leader at -21.
Xiyu Lin of China and Celine Boutier of France are tied for second place at -20. Henderson meanwhile is in a fourth place tie with Gaby Lopez of Mexico and Nasa Hataoka of Japan.
In round three on Friday, Henderson shot a six-under-par 66 by collecting seven birdies and one bogey. She birdied the second, seventh, ninth, 10th, 12th, 15th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the 16th hole.
In round one, Henderson shot a seven-under-par 65 by collecting eight birdies and one bogey. She birdied the first, fifth, seventh, 10th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th holes, along with a bogey on the sixth hole. The four consecutive birdies for Henderson on the back nine, was very impressive. In the second round, Henderson shot a five-under-par 67 by collecting seven birdies and two bogeys. She birdied the first, fifth, seventh, 10th, 12th, 15th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the second and ninth holes.
This his the second straight week Henderson has been in contention in a LPGA tournament in Asia. Last week at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, Henderson was in a tie for sixth place at -13, and four strokes back of Jin Young Ko of South Korea.
