Brooke Henderson finishes third at 2019 Canadian Women’s Open

Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario finished in a tie for third place at the 2019 Canadian Women’s Open in Aurora, Ontario on Sunday. Henderson finished in a tie for third place with Lizette Salas of the United States and were seven shots back of the champion, Jin Young Ko of South Korea.

Henderson and Salas both shot a four round score of -19. Ko won the tournament with a 72 hole score of -26 and was followed by Nicole Broch Larsen of Denmark, who had a second place score of -21.

Henderson was one shot back of Annie Park of the United States after round one. Henderson shot a first round score of 66, and her round of -6 was tied by fellow Canadian Anne-Catherine Tanguay of Quebec City, Quebec.

In round two, Henderson remained in contention as she improved to -9, and was three shots back of Larsen, who was at -12 and two shots back of Ko at -11. In the third round on Saturday, Henderson had a topsy turvy 18 holes of golf. She started off lousy as she went two over par after the first six holes to move back to -7. Then from the eighth to the 17th holes, Henderson went nine under par as she had seven birdies and an eagle. At -16, Henderson was two shots back of Ko and Larsen, who were each at -18.

This was Henderson’s fourth top three finish of 2019. She has wins at the Lotte Championship in Hawaii and the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan in June, along with a second place finish at the Pure Silk Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia in May.
