Blue Jays pound Red Sox 8-1

The Toronto Blue Jays delivered their most dominant win of the 2026 Major League Baseball regular season on Wednesday afternoon as they clobbered the Boston Red Sox 8-1 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. By beating the Red Sox at home, the Blue Jays have now won three consecutive series. They also beat the Los Angeles Angels two games to one in a three game set from April 20 to April 22, and the Cleveland Guardians two games to one in a three game set from April 24 to April 26.

In the Blue Jays win over the Red Sox on Wednesday, Canadian-born first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of Montreal, Quebec continued his masterful start to the 2026 Major League Baseball regular season. He collected a game-high three hits to improve his batting average this season to .358. In 109 at bats, Guerrero Jr. leads the Major Leagues with 39 hits. The Blue Jays also got home runs from Ernie Clement and Brandon Valenzuela.

On the mound, Braydon Fisher got his second win of the season. He has sparkled so far in relief as he has a season earned run average of 1.59.

With the win, the Blue Jays are now half a game back of the Detroit Tigers and Texas Rangers for a wildcard spot in the American League. Toronto next plays in Minnesota on Thursday.
