
The Toronto Blue Jays have decided to bring back relief pitcher Yimi Garcia according to Rogers Sportsnet on Friday. The terms of the deal are two years and $15 million.
This is the second time Garcia has pitched for the Blue Jays. He previously pitched in Toronto from 2022 to 2024 before being traded to Seattle in July. In 163 career games with the Blue Jays, Garcia had a record of 10 wins and nine losses with an earned run average of 3.44. In 157 innings pitched, Garcia had nine saves, 52 holds, and gave up 131 hits, 60 earned runs, 17 home runs and 39 walks, to go along with 179 strikeouts and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.08.
In 2024 with the Blue Jays and Mariners, Garcia pitched 39 games and had a record of three wins and zero losses with an earned run average of 3.46. In 39 innings pitched. he had five saves and 13 holds, and gave up 23 hits, 15 earned runs, six home runs, and 12 walks, to go along with 49 strikeouts and an excellent WHIP of 0.90,
In addition to playing for the Blue and Jays and Mariners, Garcia has played with three other teams. He was with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2014 to 2019, the Miami Marlins in 2020 and 2021, and the Houston Astros in 2021.
