
Anaheim Ducks center Adam Henrique of Brantford, Ontario recorded his first career National Hockey League hat trick on Sunday. He accomplished the feat in a 5-1 Ducks win over the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Henrique opened the scoring at 1:46 of the second period on the power-play from Alex Killorn of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Pavel Mintyukov. Henrique then put the Ducks up 2-0 with the game-winning goal at 11:17 of the second period from Mintyukov and Troy Terry. Then at 14:12 of the third period, Henrique scored an unassisted shorthanded goal into an empty net to close out the scoring.
There were two Canadians who scored for the Ducks. The other was Killorn.
In 2023-24, Henrique has nine goals and seven assists for 16 points in 29 games. He was a -4 with 10 penalty minutes, six power-play points, three shorthanded points, two game-winning goals, 46 shots on goal, 26 blocked shots, 18 hits, 12 takeaways, and three giveaways. Henrique’s other game-winning goal this season came on November 14 in a 3-2 Ducks win over the Nashville Predators. Henrique scored from Urho Vaakanainen and Radko Gudas to break a 2-2 deadlock at 16:09 of the third period.
This was the second hat trick involving the Devils this past weekend. On Saturday, Jack Hughes scored thrice as the Devils beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3.
