
Dallas Stars centre Wyatt Johnston of Toronto, Ontario recorded his fourth career National Hockey League hat trick on Sunday. He accomplished the feat in a 6-1 Stars win over the Ottawa Senators at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Johnston’s first goal of the game came with four minutes and 27 seconds left in the second period. He put the Stars up 3-1 from Mikko Rantanen and Jason Robertson. Johnston then put the Stars up 4-1 from Rantanen and Roope Hintz on the power-play at 2:52 of the third period. Johnston completed the scoring with four minutes and 19 seconds left from Hintz and Robertson on the power-play.
Johnston had a four point game. He also added an assist on a goal by Canadian Olympic gold medalist Jamie Benn of Victoria, British Columbia. Benn, who won a gold medal in men’s hockey at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, scored at 7:24 of the third period to put the Stars up 4-1.
Johnston’s first NHL hat trick came on March 5, 2024 in a 7-6 Stars win over the San Jose Sharks. Johnston’s second NHL hat trick came on January 28, 2025 in a 4-3 Stars win over the Vegas Golden Knights. Johnston’s third NHL hat trick came on March 2, 2025 in a 6-3 Stars win over the St. Louis Blues.
