According to nhl.com on Monday, the Winnipeg Jets will host the Montreal Canadiens in the 2026 National Hockey League Heritage Classic on October 25. The game will take place at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The stadium primarily hosts the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

This will be the second time that Winnipeg will have hosted the Heritage Classic. They previously hosted a game between the Jets and Edmonton Oilers on October 23, 2016 with the Oilers winning 3-0. In all, there were 33, 240 people in attendance. One area of concern from a hockey insider was the fact that many people who attended the game could not see much as it was terrible from a spectator perspective. I wonder if organizers will make any improvements this time around.

In all, this will be the eighth Heritage Classic. This will be the third game featuring the Jets and third game featuring the Canadiens. Montreal played in the first two Heritage Classics. They beat Edmonton 4-3 on November 22, 2003 and then lost 4-0 to Calgary on February 20, 2010.  Winnipeg was involved in a second Heritage Classic. On October 26, 2019, at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan (host of the Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders), the Jets beat the Flames by a score of 2-1.
