Valerie Grenier of Ottawa, Ontario won a World Cup women’s giant slalom bronze medal in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec on Saturday. For Grenier, it was her fifth World Cup career alpine skiing medal, and first World Cup alpine skiing medal in Canada.

Grenier posted a time of 2:17.18. Alice Robinson of New Zealand won the gold medal with a time of 2:16.18. Zrinka Ljutic of Croatia won the silver medal with a time of 2:17.12. Grenier reached the podium by 0.21 seconds over Camille Rast of Switzerland. Rast had a fourth place time of 2:17.39.

In the World Cup women’s giant slalom standings, Grenier is in ninth place with 104 points. Robinson leads with 292 points.

Of Grenier’s five World Cup women’s alpine skiing medals, she has won two gold medals and three bronze medals. Grenier has won four giant slalom medals and one downhill medal. Grenier won back-to-back giant slalom gold medals in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia in 2023 and 2024. She also won a women’s giant slalom bronze medal in Grandvalira Soldeu-El Tarter, Andorra on March 19, 2023, and a women’s downhill bronze medal in Cortina d’Ampezzo on January 26, 2024. The bronze medal in Cortina has extra significance because remember, Cortina d’Ampezzo is hosting the 2026 Olympic Winter Games only two months from now.
