
The Montreal Alouettes and British Columbia Lions have advanced in the 2025 Canadian Football League playoffs. On Saturday in the CFL Divisional Semifinals, the Alouettes and Lions both had a Canadian that contributed to a touchdown. Montreal beat Winnipeg 42-33 and will now play Hamilton in the Eastern Final. British Columbia beat Calgary 33-30 and will now play Saskatchewan in the Western Final.
In Montreal, Alouettes wide receiver Tyson Philpot of Delta, British Columbia found the end zone twice. Both touchdowns came in the first quarter. The first touchdown was a one-yard run with four minutes and 19 seconds left in the first quarter that put Montreal up 10-0. The second major score was a 45 yard touchdown catch from Davis Alexander with 50 seconds left in the first quarter that put the Alouettes up 17-0. Philpot had 10 catches for 135 receiving yards.
In Vancouver, Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia had a seven yard touchdown run at 3:27 of the third quarter to put the Lions up 20-7 at the time. Rourke finished the game by completing 16 of 22 passes for 223 passing yards, and led the Lions in rushing too. He had six rushes for 68 rushing yards. Rourke has also been nominated as a finalist for the CFL Most Outstanding Player award in 2025. He is up against Bo Levi Mitchell of the Tiger-Cats.
