The Minnesota Twins have traded second baseman Edouard Julien of Quebec City, Quebec to the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday according to Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors. In addition to Julien, the Rockies acquired pitcher Pierson Ohl from the Twins. The player in the deal going from Colorado to Minnesota is minor league pitcher Jace Kaminska. In addition to Kaminska, the Twins are receiving cash considerations.
Julien is joining his second Major League Baseball franchise. He spent the last three seasons with the Twins. In 2025, Julien batted .220 with three home runs and 12 runs batted in. During 64 games, 182 at bats and 208 plate appearances, Julien scored 13 runs and had 40 hits, 10 doubles, 22 walks, 59 total bases, one sacrifice bunt, one sacrifice fly, an on base percentage of .309 and a slugging percentage of .324. Julien’s sacrifice bunt came in a 7-5 Minnesota Twins win over the Toronto Blue Jays on August 26.
The Rockies are clearly in a state of rebuilding under new general manager Josh Byrnes. Last season, Colorado was the worst team in the Major Leagues, and quite frankly it was not even remotely close. They had a record of 43 wins and 119 losses for a winning percentage of only .265. They were 50 games back of the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
