The Toronto Blue Jays have been named the Canadian Press Team of the Year. The Blue Jays were selected because they qualified for the World Series for the third time in franchise history. In a dramatic seven game series, the Blue Jays lost in seven games to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Toronto had a regular season record of 94 wins and 68 losses for a winning percentage of .580. They had the identical record as the New York Yankees, but won the American League East, because they beat the Yankees eight times in 13 games. Toronto’s regular season record was the third best in the Major Leagues. They were only behind the Milwaukee Brewers (97 wins and 65 losses for a winning percentage of .599) and the Philadelphia Phillies (96 wins and 66 losses for a winning percentage of .593).

In the 2025 Major League Baseball postseason, the Blue Jays won two playoff series. They defeated the Yankees in four games to win the American League Divisional Series, and the Seattle Mariners in seven games to win the American League Championship Series.

On a personal note, the Blue Jays management group deserves praise. I did not think this group was capable of putting together a World Series contender based on their focus on team defense and their talent evaluations. I was wrong.
