The Hamilton Tiger-Cats traded long snapper Simon Chaves of Guelph, Ontario to the Toronto Argonauts on Thursday according to the Canadian Football League website. In return, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats received a seventh round pick in the 2027 Canadian Football League Draft.
This is the third team Chaves has been a member of this season. He originally signed with the Ottawa Redblacks on June 9, and played two games with the Redblacks before being released on July 29. Chaves then has been a member of the Tiger-Cats after signing a contract on August 5.
There was then a need for the Argonauts to have a long snapper when Adam Guillemette of Ottawa, Ontario went on the injury list. Guillemette is on the injury list for the next six games with a head injury.
It has been a shockingly poor season for the Argonauts after winning the Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers a year ago at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia. They have the worst record in the CFL at two wins and eight losses. Toronto has lost three straight games and their only wins have come against the Blue Bombers and Redblacks. Toronto next plays British Columbia in Toronto on Saturday.
