Three-time National Hockey League All-Star Devan Dubnyk retired at the age of 36 on Saturday according to TSN. The native of Regina, Saskatchewan played 12 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche from 2009 to 2021.

In 542 NHL regular season games, Dubnyk had a record of 253 wins, 206 regulation losses, and 54 losses in extra time. He had a goals against average of 2.61, a save percentage of .914, and 33 shutouts.

Dubnyk will be best remembered for his time with the Wild. Before his time in Minnesota, he was a below average netminder. It was during a brief stint in Arizona that changed Dubnyk’s hockey career. While with the Coyotes, he worked with former NHL goaltender Sean Burke of Windsor, Ontario. Burke encouraged Dubnyk to stay on his skates more so it could help his lateral movement according to Chris Battaglia of The Score. The teaching lessons paid off as with the Wild, Dubnyk was marvelous.

In 2015 while with Arizona and Minnesota, Dubnyk won the Masterton Award for perseverance. That year he was also a second team NHL All-Star, and was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy. Dubnyk was also an All-Star and represented the Wild in the 2016, 2017 and 2019 NHL All-Star Games.

On the international scene, Dubnyk won two gold medals with Team Canada. They were at the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the 2012 Davos Cup in Switzerland.
