Three Canadians contribute to Week 20 CFL touchdowns for winning teams

Week 20 in the Canadian Football League is now completed and three Canadians contributed to touchdowns on winning teams. They were British Columbia Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia, Calgary Stampeders defensive back Adrian Greene of Toronto, Ontario, and Stampeders wide receiver Jalen Philpot of Delta, British Columbia.

Rourke had one touchdown pass and one touchdown run for the British Columbia Lions in a 37-24 win over the Edmonton Elks on Friday. Rourke’s touchdown run was 70 yards with five minutes and 42 seconds left in the third quarter to put the Lions up 27-10. He then put the Lions up 34-17 with a 17 yard touchdown pass to Keon Hatcher with seven minutes and 51 seconds left in the game.

In the 17-point Lions win, Rourke completed 21 of 32 passes for 338 passing yards and one touchdown. He also had three rushes for 82 rushing yards. For the season, Rourke has completed 329 passes in 472 pass attempts for 4922 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 18 interceptions. He also has 60 rushes for 559 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.

Greene and Philpot contributed to touchdowns in the Stampeders’s 44-13 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday at McMahon Stadium. Greene had a 64 yard interception return to begin the scoring at 1:39 of the first quarter. Philpot had a seven yard touchdown catch from Vernon Adams with one minute and two seconds left in the second quarter to out the Stampeders up 28-7 at the time.

This was Greene’s sixth interception on the season and second pick six. The first pick six was for 40 yards and also came against Toronto in a 29-19 Stampeders win on June 14. Greene’s six interceptions this season were for 166 interception yards.

Philpot had six catches for 98 receiving yards and two rushes for nine rushing yards. For the season, he has 61 catches for 830 receiving yards and three touchdown catches, along with 17 rushes for 124 rushing yards. With the wins, the Lions and Stampeders are both at 10 wins and seven losses on the season and are tied for second place in the West Division.
