For the third straight day, Team Canada won the morning draw and the evening draw at the 2026 World Men’s Curling Championship in Ogden, Utah. On Wednesday, Canada beat Switzerland 8-7 and Czechia 9-5.
In Canada’s win over Switzerland, Team Canada had a relatively comfortable 7-4 lead after eight ends. However, the last two ends were anything but comfortable for Team Dunstone. A series of mistakes for Team Canada in the ninth end led to Switzerland scoring three points to tie the game at nine. The final Canadian mistake in the ninth end came when Canadian skip Matt Dunstone attempted the double takeout, but removed a Canadian stone instead.
It was the 10th end with the final shot where Dunstone was at his absolute best. With Switzerland’s Marco Hosli already biting the button, Dunstone had a perfect cold draw to the button without the Harnden brothers sweeping at all to give Canada the dramatic 8-7 win.
Then in Canada’s win over the Czech Republic, the big end was the ninth end as Canada scored three points to expand their 6-5 lead to 9-5. On Thursday, Canada plays Germany in the afternoon and Norway in the evening. The Canadians are in a second place tie with Switzerland and Scotland with a record of eight wins and two losses.
