
It was actually a glorious day for Team Canada at the 2026 World Men’s Curling Championships in Ogden, Utah. For the second straight day the Canadian team skipped by Matt Dunstone of Winnipeg, Manitoba won the morning draw and evening draw in convincing fashion.
After trouncing Poland 9-2 and Japan 8-3 on Monday, Canada was triumphant two more times in lopsided wins on Tuesday. They defeated China 8-4 and Sweden 10-3.
In the win over China, the game was actually very close after eight ends. In fact the game was tied at four points apiece. That is when Canada scored four points with the hammer in the ninth end to bust the game open.
In Canada’s convincing win over Sweden, Dunstone got off to a terrific start by scoring four points in the first end. It was a pair of Swedish mistakes that led to the four Canadian points. Swedish lead Simon Olofsson (who is actually the fifth player as he was subbing for lead Christoffer Sundgren) burnt the first Niklas Edin stone, and then Edin came up light with his second stone.
With the wins, Canada improved to a record of six wins and two losses. They are in fourth place behind Switzerland (7-1), Sweden (7-2), and Scotland (6-2).
