Stuart Skinner ties Oilers record for most shutouts in a playoff season

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner of Edmonton, Alberta tied the Oilers franchise record for most shutouts in a playoff season with three on Friday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Oilers win over the Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. With the win, the Oilers and Stars are tied at one in their best out of seven Western Conference Final series.

Skinner made 25 saves for the shutout. He made 11 saves in the first period, five saves in the second period, and nine saves in the third period. Four Stars led the team with three shots on goal each. They were Wyatt Johnston of Toronto, Ontario, defenseman Thomas Harley of Mississauga, Ontario, Mikael Granlund and Roope Hintz.

Offensively, three Canadians scored for the Oilers. They were Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, British Columbia, defenseman Brett Kulak of Edmonton, and Connor Brown of Toronto. Nugent-Hopkins and defenseman Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ontario had two points each to lead the team in scoring. Nugent-Hopkins had one goal and one assist, and Bouchard had two assists.

Curtis Joseph of Keswick. Ontario is the other Oilers goaltender with three postseason shutouts in one season. He had three shutouts for the Oilers in the 1998 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
