Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner of Edmonton, Alberta recorded his ninth career National Hockey League shutout on Saturday afternoon. He accomplished the feat in a 4-0 Oilers win over the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.
Skinner made 26 saves for the Oilers. He made 12 saves in the first period, six saves in the second period, and eight saves in the third period. Jared McCann of Stratford, Ontario, defenseman Brandon Montour of Brantford, Ontario, and Matty Beniers led the Kraken with four shots on goal.
This was a challenging game for Skinner to get a shutout. That is because the Oilers as a unit were not disciplined. Edmonton gave Seattle six power-play opportunities but were unable to score.
Three Canadians scored for the Oilers and had a multi-point game. Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Zach Hyman of Toronto, Ontario, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, British Columbia all had one goal and one assist for two points.
All nine of Skinner’s shutouts have come with the Oilers. This was his second shutout of the season. He also blanked the New York Rangers 2-0 on October 14. In 2025-26, Skinner has a record of nine wins, seven regulation losses, and three losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 3.00 and a save percentage of .885.
