
For the second time in his National Hockey League career, Nashville Predators centre Steven Stamkos of Markham, Ontario scored four goals in a game. He accomplished the feat in a 7-2 Predators win over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. The only other time Stamkos scored four goals in a game came on December 14, 2023 in a 7-4 Tampa Bay Lightning win over the Edmonton Oilers.
Stamkos scored the first two goals of the game as both goals came in the first period. He opened the scoring at 8:22 of the first period from Matthew Wood of Lethbridge, Alberta and Fedor Svechkov. Stamkos then put the Predators up 2-0 at 11:19 of the first period from defensemen Roman Josi and Nicklaus Perbix. Stamkos’s hat trick put the Predators up 5-1 at 12:06 of the second period. Nick Blackenburg and Svechkov had the assists. Then with four minutes and 27 seconds left in the second period, the Predators went up 6-2 on Stamkos’s fourth goal in the game. Wood and Josi had the assists.
There were three Canadians who scored for the Predators. The other two were Ryan O’Reilly of Clinton, Ontario, and Michael Bunting of Scarborough, Ontario. The Predators are also seeing the progression of left winger Luke Evangelista, who had three assists.
In 30 games, Stamkos has 12 goals and three assists for 15 points. He is a -5 with 20 penalty minutes, two power-play points, three game-winning goals, 67 shots on goal, 105 faceoff wins, 12 blocked shots, 24 hits, 10 takeaways, and 27 giveaways.
