
The Dallas Stars have signed right winger Nathan Bastian of Kitchener, Ontario according to Rogers Sportsnet on Saturday. The terms of the contract are for one year and $775,000.
Bastian is joining his third National Hockey League team. He was previously with the New Jersey Devils for six seasons. Bastian was in New Jersey in 2018-19, and again from 2020 to 2025. He also played 12 games for the Seattle Kraken in 2021 to 2022.
In 2024-25, Bastian had four goals and six assists for 10 points in 59 games. He was a -4 with 31 penalty minutes, one power-play point, one shorthanded point, and one game-winning goal. Bastian also had 44 shots on goal, eight faceoff wins, 27 blocked shots, 138 hits, two takeaways, and 24 giveaways. Bastian’s shorthanded point was also an unassisted game-winning goal. It came in a 3-1 Devils win over the Ottawa Senators at 6:26 of the second period on October 17. At the time, the Devils went up 2-0. Bastian’s power-play point was a power-play goal on January 29 in a 5-0 Devils win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Bastian scored from Timo Meier and Luke Hughes at 12;41 of the second period. A the time, the Devils went up 3-0.
Bastian was selected by the Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. He was then put on waivers by Seattle and reclaimed by New Jersey in Seattle’s first NHL season.
