Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ties Canadian record for most points in a NBA game

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Toronto, Ontario has had a spectacular first week of the 2025-26 NBA regular season schedule. In four games, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 35.8 points per game. That is 3.1 points more than last year when his 32.7 points per game led the NBA.

Gilgeous-Alexander’s most notable game of the week came on Thursday in a 141-135 Thunder double overtime win over the Indiana Pacers in a rematch of the 2025 NBA Finals. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 55 points in the game, which was a career-high and tied the Canadian record for most points in a NBA game. Jamal Murray of Kitchener, Ontario also had 55 points in a 132-121 Nuggets win over the Portland Trail Blazers win on February 12, 2025.

Gilgeous-Alexander has 143 points this season in four Oklahoma City wins. He had 35 points in a 125-124 Thunder double overtime win over the Houston Rockets on opening night a week ago, 30 points in a 117-100 Thunder win over the Atlanta Hawks on October 25, and 23 points in a 101-94 Thunder win over the Dallas Mavericks. Gilgeous-Alexander is also averaging 5.8 assists per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 1.5 steals per game and one block per game. He has a field goal percentage of .510, three point percentage of .240, and a free throw percentage of .848. The Thunder will once again be a tough team to beat.
