Shai Gilgeous-Alexander named to the 2024-25 NBA First All-Star Team

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Toronto, Ontario has been named to the 2024-25 National Basketball Association First All-Star Team on Friday according to Cameron Salerno of CBS Sports. It is the third straight year he has received the honour.

Gilgeous-Alexander led the NBA in points per game this season with 32.7. He also led the NBA in free throws made per game (7.9), total points (2484), total field goals made (860), and total free throws made (601). Gilgeous-Alexander also averaged five rebounds per game, 6.4 assists per game, 1.7 steals per game, and one block per game. He had a field goal percentage of .519, a three point percentage of .375, and a free throw percentage of .898.

Other players selected to the NBA First All-Star Team were Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic of Sombor, Serbia, Milwaukee Bucks power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo of Athens, Greece, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum of St. Louis, Missouri, and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell of Elmsford, New York. It has been a fantastic season for Jokic as he was the first center in NBA history to average a triple double in a single season (29.6 points per game, 12.7 rebounds per game, and 10.2 assists per game). The Thunder meanwhile are in the Western Conference Finals, and currently lead the Minnesota Timberwolves two games to none with game three on Saturday night.
