Seth Jarvis records second career NHL hat trick

Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis of Winnipeg, Manitoba recorded his second career National Hockey League hat trick on Friday. He accomplished the feat in a 5-1 Hurricanes win over the Winnipeg Jets.

Jarvis opened the scoring at 16:06 of the first period. Shayne Gostisbehere and Sebastian Aho had the assists. Jarvis then put the Hurricanes up 3-1 at 12:39 of the third period from K’Andre Miller and Andrei Svechnikov. Then with one minute and three seconds left in the game, Jarvis recorded the hat trick with an empty net goal from Svechnikov to put the Hurricanes up 4-1.

Two Canadians scored for Carolina in the four-goal win. The other Canadian goal scorer on the Hurricanes was Jordan Martinook of Brandon, Manitoba. He scored the game-winning goal from Mark Jankowski of Hamilton, Ontario and Gostisbehere at 11:52 of the third period to put Carolina up 2-1.

In 24 games this season, Jarvis has 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points. He is a +3 with six penalty minutes, one power-play point, two shorthanded points, four game-winning goals, 15 faceoff wins, 10 blocked shots, 25 hits, 15 takeaways, and 23 giveaways.

Jarvis’s power-play point was a power-play goal and came in a 4-1 Hurricanes win over the Anaheim Ducks on October 16. Jarvis put the Hurricanes up 2-0 from Jackson Blake and Gostisbehere. Both of Jarvis’s shorthanded points this season were shorthanded goals and came in Hurricanes wins. On October 23, Jarvis had an unassisted goal in a 5-4 Hurricanes win over the Colorado Avalanche. Jarvis put the Hurricanes up 2-1 at 7:17 of the first period. Then on November 21, Jarvis scored scored from Aho and Miller at 6:31 of the second period in a 4-3 Hurricanes win over the Jets. Jarvis put Carolina up 3-2 at the time.

Jarvis’s first NHL hat trick came on February 16, 2023. Carolina beat the Montreal Canadiens 6-2.

With the win, the Hurricanes improved to a record of 15 wins, seven regulation losses, and two losses in extra time. They now have 32 points and in second place in the Metropolitan Division.
