The Ottawa Senators have signed goaltender James Reimer of Morweena, Manitoba according to Steve Warne of The Hockey News Ottawa on Wednesday. The terms of the contract are one year and worth $850,000.
Reimer is joining his eighth National Hockey League franchise. He has previously played six seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2010 to 2016, three seasons with the San Jose Sharks (2015-16, and 2021 to 2023), three seasons with the Florida Panthers from 2016 to 2019, two seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes from 2019 to 2021, one season with the Detroit Red Wings from 2023 to 2024, and last season with the Anaheim Ducks and Buffalo Sabres.
In 24 games during the 2024-25 season, Reimer had a record of 10 wins and 10 losses for a goals against average of 3.04, save percentage of .896 and one shutout.
The shutout came on April 8 in a 3-0 Sabres win over the Carolina Hurricanes at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center in front of only 13, 709 spectators. This was Reimer’s 31st career shutout. Of the 31 shutouts, 11 have come with the Toronto Maple Leafs, seven each have been with the Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks, three have been with the Carolina Hurricanes, two have been with the Detroit Red Wings and one with the Buffalo Sabres.
It will be interesting to see how long Reimer is with the Senators. It depends on the health of Linus Ullmark, who is out on personal leave.
