Ryan O’Reilly records his seventh career NHL hat trick

Nashville Predators centre Ryan O’Reilly of Clinton, Ontario recorded his seventh career National Hockey League hat trick on Friday. He accomplished the feat on Friday in a 7-3 Predators win over the Colorado Avalanche at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. This was the first regulation home loss the Avalanche have had all season long.

O’Reilly added an assist for a four point game. He opened the scoring at the 30 second mark of the first period from Filip Forsberg. O’Reilly then put the Predators up 2-1 fr0m Luke Evangelista of Toronto, Ontario and Forsberg at 7:32 of the second period. O’Reilly then put the Predators up 3-2 from Evangelista and Roman Josi at 13:01 of the second period to put the Predators 3-2. O’Reilly assisted on a third period goal by Forsberg.

There were three Canadians who scored for the Predators on Friday. The other two were Michael Bunting of Scarborough, Ontario, and Steven Stamkos of Markham, Ontario. Stamkos, Bunting and Evangelista all had multi-point games. Stamkos and Bunting each had one goal and one assist, and Evangelista had two assists.

In 2025-26, O’Reilly has 16 goals and 27 assists for 43 points in 47 games. He is a +4 with eight penalty minutes, 10 power-play points, two shorthanded points, five game-winning goals, 85 shots on goal, 450 faceoff wins, 36 blocked shots, nine hits, 30 takeaways, and 30 giveaways.

O’Reilly’s first shorthanded point was a shorthanded goal in a 2-1 Predators win over the Vancouver Canucks. Defenseman Spencer Statsney had the lone assist at 9:01 of the second period. O’Reilly’s second shorthanded point was a shorthanded goal in a 2-1 Predators shootout win over the New York Islanders on January 8. O’Reilly scored from Cole Smith with 41 seconds left in the second period. Of O’Reilly’s seven hat tricks, three have come with the Predators, three have come with the St. Louis Blues and three have come with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
