Ryan Nembhard makes NBA history in Mavericks upset win over the Nuggets

According to Billy Heyen of The Sporting News, Dallas Mavericks point guard Ryan Nembhard of Aurora, Ontario made NBA history on Monday night. In a 131-121 Mavericks upset win over the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, Nembhard became the first undrafted rookie ever to reach 25 points, 10 assists, and zero turnovers.

Nembhard’s exact statistical line was 28 points, 10 assists and zero turnovers. He also had three rebounds and was a +9. Nembhard made 12 of 14 field goals, and four of five three point shots. Nembhard also set career highs in points and assists in a NBA game.

The Mavericks’s win over the Nuggets was a significant upset. Heading into the game, Dallas was an 11 point underdog against Denver, but won by 10 points. With the win, the Mavericks improved to a record of seven wins and 15 losses.

Nembhard signed a two-way contract with the Mavericks on July 5 according to mavsfansforlife.com. In 2024-25, Nembhard just finished his college career at Gonzaga. He played two seasons at Creighton and two seasons at Gonzaga.

So far in his NBA rookie season, Nembhard has played nine games, and averaged 7.9 points per game, 3.7 assists per game, and 1.1 rebounds per game. He has a field goal percentage of .545, a three point percentage of .429, and a free throw percentage of .667.
