
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Rob Zastryzny of Edmonton, Alberta was traded from the New York Yankees for cash considerations on May 16 according to Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors. On Tuesday night, Zastryzny got the victory for Milwaukee in a 5-1 win over the Boston Red Sox in a game that went into 10 innings before deciding a winner.
Zastryzny delivered 10 pitches and had seven strikes in two thirds of an inning. He had one strikeout, and forced one fly ball.
This was Zastryzny’s fifth game in the last 12 days since being acquired by Milwaukee. In five innings, he has given up four hits and one walk, to go along with seven strikeouts and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.00. Zastryzny did not pitch this season for the New York Yankees.
Zastryzny also pitched for the Brewers in 2024. Last season he pitched nine games and had a record of one win and zero losses with an earned run average of 1.17. In 7 2/3 innings, Zastryzny gave up four hits, one earned run and one walk, to go along with five strikeouts, and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.00. Zastryzny’s 2024 win came on July 2 in a 4-3 Brewers win over the Colorado Rockies. Zastryzny threw two thirds of an inning and had one strikeout.
Milwaukee is currently at 28 wins and 28 losses. They are three and a half games back of the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants for the final wildcard spot in the National League.
