Red Wings trade Tyler Bertuzzi to Bruins

According to Rogers Sportsnet on Thursday, the Detroit Red Wings traded left winger Tyler Bertuzzi of Sudbury, Ontario to the Boston Bruins for a first round pick in the 2024 National Hockey League Entry Draft and a fourth round draft pick in the 2025 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The Bruins become Bertuzzi’s second NHL franchise as he previously played seven seasons with the Red Wings. Bertuzzi was initially the Red Wings’s second round pick, 58th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

In 29 games, Bertuzzi has four goals and 10 assists for 14 points. He is a -12 with 23 penalty minutes, five power-play points, 62 shots on goal, two faceoff wins, 15 blocked shots, 27 hits, six takeaways and 16 giveaways.

Earlier in the season, Bertuzzi missed a full month with an upper-body injury. He suffered the injury blocking a shot by New Jersey Devils defenseman Ryan Graves of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in a 5-2 Red Wings over New Jersey on October 15. Then on November 30 in a 5-4 Red Wings loss to the Buffalo Sabres, Bertuzzi suffered a hand injury blocking a shot by teammate Ben Chiarot of Hamilton, Ontario, and did not play again until January 10.

The Bruins have won nine in a row. They lead the NHL with 101 points.
