Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier win ice dance silver at the 2025 Finlandia Trophy

Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier won the silver medal on Saturday in the 2025 Finlandia Trophy in Helsinki. For Gilles and Poirier it was their 22nd Grand Prix medal in figure skating. It was one of two medals won by Canadian figure skaters on Saturday in Finland. In the men’s event, Stephen Gogolev of Toronto, Ontario won the bronze medal. It was his first career medal at the Grand Prix level.

In the ice dance, Gilles and Poirier posted a score of 202.11 points. Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron of France won the gold medal with a score of 204.18 points and Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik of the United States won the bronze medal with 196.02 points. Gilles and Poirier reached the podium by 10.05 points. Olivia Smart and Tim Dieck of Spain finished in fourth place with a score of 192.06 points.

In the men’s event, Gogolev had a score of 253.61 points. Yuma Kagiyama of Japan won the gold medal with a score of 270.45 points. Adam Siao Him Fa of France won the silver medal with a score of 256.98 points. Gogolev reached the podium by 10.32 points over fellow Canadian Roman Sadovsky of Toronto, who had a fourth place score of 243.29 points. The medals for Gilles, Poirier and Gogolev will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
