The Ottawa Charge are the first Canadian team to qualify for the Professional Women’s Hockey League Finals. On Friday night at Toronto Dominion Place in Ottawa, Ontario, the Charge defeated the Montreal Victoire 2-1. With the victory, the Charge won the best out of three series two games to one.

The Charge will now face the Minnesota Frost in the PWHL Finals. It is a series that begins on Tuesday in Ottawa. The Frost defeated the Toronto Sceptres three games to one in their best of five series. The Frost are the reigning PWHL champions. Last year they beat Boston in the final.

In the fourth game of the series on Friday, the Charge had goals from Rebecca Leslie of Ottawa, and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Emily Clark of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Clark won the gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

In the PWHL regular season. the Charge, Frost ad Boston Fleet had the exact same number of regular season points with 44. They were tied for third place in the standings. Ottawa got third place as they had 12 regular season wins, compared to 10 for Minnesota and nine for Boston. That is why the Charge get home ice advantage in the finals.
