Olivia Asselin wins World Cup slopestyle skiing silver in Austria

Olivia Asselin of Quebec City, Quebec won the silver medal on Saturday in a women’s World Cup slopestyle skiing event in Stubai, Austria. Results were taken from the qualification round to determine the medalists, as the final was cancelled due to high winds according to Chloe Morrison of the Canadian Olympic Committee.

Asselin posted a second place score of 76.71 points. Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland won thew gold medal with a score of 81.92 points. Anni Karava of Finland won the bronze medal with a score of 68.07 points. Asselin reached the podium by 8.67 points. Fellow Canadian freestyle skier Megan Oldham of Newmarket, Ontario finished in fourth place with a score of 68.04 points.

In World Cup competition, Asselin has now won three medals. She won a bronze medal in big air skiing on December 16, 2022 in Copper Mountain, Colorado, and a bronze medal in slopestyle skiing in Tignes, France on March 16, 2024.

This was the first women’s slopestyle skiing World Cup event of the 2025-26 freestyle skiing calendar. There will be future events in Aspen, Colorado on January 9, in Laax, Switzerland on January 17, in Tignes, France on March 19, and Silvaplana, Switzerland on March 28. However, the biggest slopestyle skiing event of the season will be on February 9 at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina D’Ampezzo.
