The Edmonton Oilers beat the Dallas Stars 6-1 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta on Sunday. As a result, the Oilers lead the Western Conference best out of seven series in the 2025 National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoffs two games to one.
Three Canadians on the Oilers registered three points. Left winger Zach Hyman of Toronto, Ontario had two goals and one assist for three points, while left winger Evander Kane of Vancouver, British Columbia and centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Burnaby, British Columbia had three assists each. Two more Canadians on the Oilers registered a multi-point game. Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario scored twice, and defenseman Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ontario had one goal and one assist for two points. The other Oilers goal scorer was defenseman John Klingberg, who completed the scoring on the power-play with two minutes and 20 seconds left in the game.
The Stars had pulled within one goal with four minutes and 25 seconds left in the middle frame. For the second period, Dallas was the better team and would have had the lead if it was not for the brilliant goaltending by Oilers netminder Stuart Skinner of Edmonton, Alberta. Then the Oilers restored order in the final minute of the second period when once again we saw the amazing stickhandling of Connor McDavid, which led to a key insurance goal. Game four is Tuesday night.
