New Brunswick collects eight medals at Canada Games

It was a great day for New Brunswick at the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland. They collected eight medals, six in athletics and two in wrestling on Saturday.

New Brunswick won two gold medals, four silver medals, and two bronze medals. The gold medals came from Dante Cormier of Riverview in the men’s 400 metre wheelchair racing and Pepper Pepperdene of Richibucto in women’s 90 kilogram wrestling. It was Cormier’s second gold medal at the Canada Games as he also won a gold medal in the men’s 100 metre wheelchair race on Friday.

Two of New Brunswick’s four silver medals also came in para sports. Remi Daniel Ouellette of Haute-Aboujagane won silver in the men’s para discus and Christel Robichaud of Grande-Digue won silver in the women’s para discus. Meanwhile, Shelby MacIsaac of Riverview won silver in the women’s 800 metres, Audree Leblanc of Dieppe won silver in the women’s shot put, Jackson Banks of Fredericton won bronze in the men’s 200 metres, and Chloe Richardson of Chesterville won bronze in the women’s 73 kilogram wrestling. New Brunswick now has 17 medals (five gold medals, seven silver medals, and five bronze medals).

Newfoundland, the host province won one medal to increase their medal count to six (one gold, four silver and one bronze). Gavin Baggs of Paradise won silver in men’s 400 metre wheelchair racing. Quebec and Ontario are currently tied with 168 medals each to lead the medal standings.
