Two Canadians contributed offensively to British Columbia Lions touchdowns on Friday in a 27-22 win over the Toronto Argonauts at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia. Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia had one touchdown pass and one touchdown run. The receiver of Rourke’s touchdown pass was Justin McInnis of Pierrefonds, Quebec.
Rourke completed 16 of 24 passes for 235 passing yards, with one touchdown pass and three interceptions. On the ground, he had nine rushes for 31 rushing yards. Rourke also had two touchdown runs for one yard each. McInnis had four catches for 78 receiving yards. Rourke’s touchdown pass to McInnis of 16 yards came at 5:43 of the second period to put the Lions up 10-3. Rourke’s first one-yard run came with three minutes and 44 seconds left in the third quarter and put the Lions up 20-12. Rourke’s second one-yard run came at 2:26 of the fourth quarter to put the Lions up 27-15.
In the game, Rourke has completed 16 of 24 passes for 235 passing yards. He had nine rushes for 31 rushing yards. McInnis also had four catches for 78 receiving yards. On the season, Rourke completed 283 passes in 408 attempts for 4170 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He has 55 rushes for 455 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. McInnis, meanwhile, has 66 catches for 1054 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
With the win, the Lions are at eight wins and seven losses. They are tied for third place in the West Division with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Meanwhile, in other Lions news, British Columbia will play their first two games in Kelowna next season because BC Place Stadium is hosting the World Cup of Soccer.
