
Naomi Urness of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec won the gold medal in the women’s big air freestyle skiing in Tignes, France on Friday. For Urness it was her fourth World Cup women’s big air skiing medal of the season. With the four medals, Urness won the Crystal Globe in women’s big air skiing for the 2025-26 season. The crystal globe is presented to the World Cup champion for a single season, Urness is one of two Canadian freestyle skiers to win the Crystal Globe on the weekend. Reece Howden of Chilliwack, British Columbia won the Crystal Globe in men’s ski cross.
In the women’s big air freestyle, Urness won the gold medal with 166.75 points. Anni Karava of Finland won the silver medal with 166 points. Giluia Tanno of Switzerland won the bronze medal with 160 points. Urness reached the podium by 9.5 points over Indra Brown of Australia, who finished in fourth place with 157.25 points.
Urness finished the season with 340 points. Karava was second with 230 points. In addition to winning in France, Urness also won a silver medal this past season in Secret Garden, China on November 29, a bronze medal in Beijing on December 6 and a gold medal in Steamboat, Colorado on December 13. The gold medal for Urness in Tignes will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2030 Olympic Winter Games in the French Alps.
