Naomi Urness and Dylan Deschamps win World Cup big air freestyle skiing silver in China

Naomi Urness of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec and Dylan Deschamps of Quebec City, Quebec both won World Cup silver medals in a big air freestyle skiing event in Secret Garden, China on Saturday. For Urness, it was her first career World Cup medal. For Deschamps, it was his fourth World Cup medal.

Urness had a score of 165.75 points. Kristy Muir of Great Britain won the gold medal with a score of 174.5 points. Mengting Liu of China won the bronze medal with a score of 165.25 points. Urness reached the podium by 2.5 points. Anni Karava of Finland finished in fourth place with a score of 163.25 points.

Deschamps had a score of 178.5 points. Troy Podmilsak of the United States won the gold medal with a score of 185.5 points. Luca Harrington of New Zealand won the bronze medal with a score of 176 points. Deschamps reached the podium by nine points over Mac Forehand of the United States. Forehand had 169.5 points.

All four of Deschamps’s World Cup freestyle skiing medals have come in big air. He won gold in Chur, Switzerland on October 19, 2023, bronze in Chur, Switzerland on October 18, 2024, and bronze in Beijing, China on December 1, 2024. The medals for Deschamps and Urness in Secret Garden on Friday will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
