
The Montreal Carabins have won the 2025 Vanier Cup in Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan. On Saturday, the Carabins, the 2025 Reseau du Sport etudiant du Quebec champions beat the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, the Canada West champions, 30-16. This was the first time ever Mosaic Stadium hosted the Vanier Cup.
This was the Carabins’s third Vanier Cup title. They previously beat the McMaster Marauders 20-19 at Molson Stadium in Montreal, Quebec at the 2014 Vanier Cup, and the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds 16-9 at Richardson Memorial Stadium in Kingston, Ontario at the 2023 Vanier Cup.
In Saturday’s win, the Carabins were led by quarterback Pepe Gonzalez of Montreal. Gonzalez completed 27 of 33 passes for 344 passing yards, and three touchdown passes. Gonzalez threw a 41 yard touchdown pass to Brandon Gourgon of Gatineau, Quebec, a 32 yard touchdown pass to Hassane Dosso, and a seven yard touchdown pass to Simon Larose of Montreal. It was a notable game for Larose, as he had nine catches for 136 receiving yards. Carabins kicker Philippe Boyer made two field goals.
Gonzalez won the Ted Morris Memorial Trophy, presented to the Vanier Cup most valuable player. Meanwhile, the Vanier Cup best defensive player was presented to Louis-Philippe Gauthier of Montreal. Gauthier, a cornerback, had one interception, and four solo tackles.
