The University of Montreal Carabins have won the 2025 Canadian USport Women’s Soccer Championships. On Sunday from Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario, the Carabins beat the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds by a score of 2-1. The Carabins received first half goals from 2025 USport Women’s Soccer Championship Most Valuable Player Karine Vilain of Montreal, Quebec, and Alexie Bellerose of Montreal. Vilain scored in the 12th minute and Bellerose scored the game-winning goal in the 14th minute.

The Thunderbirds responded with a second half goal. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late. The final was considered an upset as the Thunderbirds were seeded first and the Carabins were seeded second.

Montreal began the National Championship in Hamilton on Thursday with a 2-0 win over McMaster in the quarterfinals. They received goals from Maika Sanesac of Chambly, Quebec, and Jeanne Even of Montreal. Then in the semifinals, the Carabins trounced the Trinity Western University Spartans 4-0. The Carabins goal scorers were Cassandra Decombe of Brossard, Quebec, Sara Ricciardelli of Montreal, and Justine Lalande of Laval, Quebec.

This was the third Gladys Bean Memorial Trophy for the Carabins. They previously won in 2017 and 2022. In 2017, the Carabins defeated the Cape Breton Capers 1-0 in the final in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and in 2022, the Carabins beat the Laval Rouge et Or in the final 1-0 in Laval.
