Mike Soroka records 25th MLB quality start

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Mike Soroka of Calgary, Alberta recorded his 25th Major League Baseball quality start on Friday. He accomplished the feat in a 2-0 Nationals win over the Texas Rangers at Nationals Park in Washington, District of Columbia.

Soroka pitched six shutout innings and only gave up two hits and one walk. He added seven strikeouts. Of his 85 pitches, 54 were strikes.

This was Soroka’s second quality start of the season and second with the Nationals. His first quality start of 2025 came on May 25 in a 3-2 Nationals loss to the San Francisco Giants. Soroka pitched six innings, and gave up five hits, three earned runs, one walk, and one home run, to go along with two strikeouts. Of Soroka’s 25 quality starts in his Major League Baseball career, 22 have come with the Atlanta Braves, two have come with the Nationals, and one with the Chicago White Sox.

For the season, Soroka has a record of three wins and three losses for an earned run average of 4.86. During seven games and 37 innings, he has given up 34 hits, 20 earned runs, and seven walks, to go along with 35 strikeouts and a WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched) of 1.11.

The Nationals have a record of 30 wins and 34 losses. They are in third place in the National League East.
